The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc. along with AARP are offering Safe Driver Courses at various times and locations.  Courses are geared towards individuals aged 55 and older and were developed by AARP to help drivers remain safe on today’s roads while providing the bonus of a three-year discount on your automobile insurance upon completion of the course.

Two different courses are currently being offered.   The initial course is eight hours and split over two days.  The refresher course is four hours long.  You must attend the initial course if this is your first time.  After that, every three years you need to take the refresher course to keep your discount with the insurance company.

Courses cost $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-AARP members.  Class size is limited, so register early.  Couples who both have a driver’s license are each required to take the course and receive their certificate in the program in order to be eligible for the discount.  Although geared to drivers 55 and over, the class is open to all ages and AARP membership is not a requirement.
