APPRISE (State Health Insurance Assistance Program)

Medicare beneficiaries and Pennsylvanians age 60 and over often need help understanding their Medicare and other health insurance benefits.  The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging is available to provide assistance to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries through its APPRISE program.  Our specially-trained coordinators and counselors are available to:

  • Answer your questions about Medicare, Medicaid, Medigap, long term care insurance, Medicare Advantage Plans and prescription benefits.  

  • Help you understand your Medicare benefits explaining which services are covered under Parts A & B and the Medicare Summary Notice.  

  • Help you make informed choices about Medicare coverage options.  

  • Help you understand the Medicare appeals process and assist with appeals paperwork.  

  • Help you select a Medigap insurance policy.  

  • Explain financial assistance programs that may pay for your Medicare premiums, deductibles and co-pays and subsidies that can provide you with prescriptions.  

  • Explain the Medicare prescription benefit.  

  • Make presentations on Medicare to your organization.
